Transfer Applicants

Applicants transferring from other schools of Massage Therapy, Acupuncture or Oriental Medicine, or any other accredited college or university must complete the application procedures and supply the following additional documents:

  • Letter of good standing from previously attended institution(s).
  • Short written statement explaining why he or she wishes to transfer to New York College.
  • Official transcript(s) for all prior coursework along with a complete course description.
  • Applicants who wish to be considered for transfer credits in one or more subject areas must make their request in writing to the Director of Admissions during the admissions process. Transcripts are evaluated by the Dean of the appropriate program. Request for transfer of credit presented after matriculation into a program will not be accepted. Transfer credit will be awarded for equivalent coursework completed within the last 5-years and passed with a grade of "B" (3.0) or better. Applicants will be notified in writing of transfer credit to be awarded. When all aspects of the transfer application are completed, an interview with the Dean may be required.

Advanced Standing

Applicants who wish to be considered for advanced standing in one or more subject areas must make their request to the Admissions Counselor at the time of their admissions interview. Applications for advanced standing, in the form of Challenge Examinations, examination waivers or transfer credits, must be completed by the end of the student’s first year of study or the student may be dropped from the program. Requests for advanced placement examinations must be made to the Admissions Office. There is a fee of $325.00 per course for each Prior Learning/Challenge Exam. If the examination is not successfully passed the student must take the course. The fee for the exam will be applied to the tuition for the course.
