Clinical Practice Guidelines

Clinical practice guidelines are systematically developed statements designed to assist practitioners and patients in making decisions about appropriate health care for specific clinical circumstances (Institute of Medicine, 1990).

The guidelines listed below are produced by independent entities and not by NYCHP. They outline the application of certain diagnostic and treatment methods in patient care and are based on comprehensive, systematic reviews of existing medical literature. These guidelines are not rigid protocols but serve as evidence-backed resources for healthcare professionals. They should not replace the expert judgment of physicians or other qualified healthcare providers.
