Student Services

Student Services provides necessary help and guidance to all enrolled students. Student Services is the key to academic success, working with students to ensure they are academically on track to complete their degree. The office works with both academic and enrollment departments to provide clear resolution to any student issues at the College.

Key functions include:

1.  Coordination of tutoring for students struggling in their classes
2.  Advising during registration and the add/drop period
3.  Receiving and investigating student complaints and grievances
4.  Scheduling and conducting Committee of Academic Policy and Student-Faculty Committee meetings
5.  Coordinating New Student Orientation and Graduation
6.  Receiving and investigating all student Title IX incidents
7.  Coordinating reasonable accommodations for students with a 504 plan

Grievance and Complaint Procedures

New York College strives to maintain the highest standards of education quality and is committed to safeguarding the rights of all students. Students are assured that no action will be taken against them for filing a grievance or complaint.

All students enrolled at New York College of Health Professions have the right to file complaints and grievances. Student complaints and grievances must be submitted in writing to the Office of Student Services, either by obtaining an incident report or by emailing student.services@nycollege.edu. All complaints and grievances are kept strictly confidential.

Incidents involving institutional policies and procedures are handled through Student Services. Incidents involving academics (faculty and coursework) are handled through the program Dean, though Student Services may also be involved depending on the incident.

External Escalation: If a student is unable to resolve a complaint with the College, he or she may file a complaint with the New York State Education Department (NYSED). Students in the Graduate School of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine may also contact ACAHM. See contact details in the disclosure section below.


Reasonable Accommodations

New York College of Health Professions will provide reasonable accommodations to enrolled students who are otherwise qualified, with documented disabilities. Reasonable accommodations are determined on an individual basis in compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

Students who wish to request accommodations should contact the Office of Student Services at studentservices@nycollege.edu. A Request for Reasonable Accommodations Form and supporting documentation from a qualified professional will be required. The full accommodation procedure is outlined in the College Catalog.

Regulatory & Institutional Disclosures

Title IX

In accordance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, New York College of Health Professions does not discriminate on the basis of sex in its educational programs, activities, or employment practices. For all Title IX incidents, contact the Title IX Coordinator or Deputy listed below.

Section 504 / ADA

In compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the College provides reasonable accommodations to qualified students with documented disabilities. Contact the Office of Student Services to initiate a request.

FERPA

New York College of Health Professions is compliant with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and will not disclose student information without prior written consent. The full FERPA policy is available in the Student Handbook and on the College website.

Campus Crime Reporting (Clery Act)

It is the policy of the College to report campus crime statistics. The Advisory Committee on Campus Safety will provide, upon request, all campus crime statistics as reported to the U.S. Department of Education. To request this information, contact the Office of Student Services or the Human Resources Office. Statistics are also available at Campus Security Resources.
